Maryborough West railway station is the gateway point to Maryborough and Hervey Bay with RailBus connections available.
Maryborough’s striking art, statues, heritage buildings and museums tell the story of a town that was one of Australia’s largest port and industrial powerhouses, once producing naval ships and railway rollingstock. The Mary Poppins Festival, held each year, honours the author of the Mary Poppins books, Pamela Lyndon Travers, who was born in Maryborough.
Hervey Bay is located 30 minutes from Maryborough West station. Offering an idyllic seaside holiday, with family-friendly beaches, whale watching during July to November and the gateway to K'gari, the traditional home of the Butchulla people.
K'gari is the world's largest sand island. It is 123 kilometres long and covers an area of 166,038 hectares. It was listed as a World Heritage Area in 1992 to recognise the island's internationally significant natural features and the largest sand island in the world.
